Title: Acupuncture/Acupressure and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment- A Handy Combination

Description: Acupuncture/acupressure and OMT share many attributes and can be used synergistically in the care of patients. This workshop aims to provide a brief introduction to acupuncture and its related practice of acupressure. Using a regional approach, some commonly used acupuncture/acupressure points and their functions will be covered. Participants will practice palpating these points and explore how to integrate acupressure with OMT. Participants will leave with new ways to help themselves and others with conditions such as pain, respiratory illness and stress.
Objectives:
- Introduce acupuncture and acupressure
- Highlight the similarities and differences between acupuncture/acupressure and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT)
- Cover some common acupuncture points using a regional approach
- Explore combining acupressure with OMT for treatment of pain, respiratory illness, and stress
